PM Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various development works in Silchar, Assam. He highlighted the launch of a ₹24,000 crore Shillong–Silchar High-Speed Corridor, the first access-controlled highway in the Northeast. He said the project will significantly boost connectivity for Barak Valley and strengthen trade links with neighbouring states and Southeast Asian markets, while also improving rail electrification and urban mobility in the region.
